Once the queen's lifespan is over, she will produce 0-1 princesses and 1-4 drones. The number of drones is equal to the queen's Fertility value. Pristine queens always make a princess, while Ignoble queens have a chance of not producing a new princess if their generation exceeds one hundred (+2% base chance of no princess per generation >100.)
If you have a large stack of drones (or even just 7-10 a lot of the time), you can breed them repeatedly with a princess to turn it into a genetic copy of the drones.
