Spouts are a great source of oil in early tiers. For a sample set-up, see [[Oil#LV Oil Pump Set Up|this page]]. |

* Spouts lead down to underground oil pools. Even after pumping there will be a large dark cavern, potentially with dangerous oil puddles left. |

You will need a GT pump, generator and some kind of tank above the pump for the oil to collect. A chunkloader is also |

recommended so that the stuff works while you are away. Pumps don't dig through dirt/rock, so make sure it is centered exactly over the oil spout. As of 2.1.1.0 they will attempt to recover oil pipe when hit with a soft hammer - otherwise, if that fails, it can be risky to retrieve them, esp. since they will be in a large dark room, potentially with dangerous oil puddles left. Just make more in that case. |

Don't forget to cover up the top of your machines, or rain will cause them to explode. Build a cobble hut or whatever. |

In an emergency oil spouts can be "capped" either by removing the oil source blocks with buckets or replacing them with cobblestone. Gravel is not recommended as it will prevent pumping later. |
